Obituary of Nicholas J. Puleio, Sr.

Nicholas J. Puleio, Sr. died Friday, December 1, 2017, at his home in North Brunswick. He was 87.
Born in North Brunswick to the late Frank Puleio, Sr. and Frances (Parisi) Puleio he was a lifelong township resident. He graduated from Middlesex County Vocational School in New Brunswick and worked as an automobile mechanic at Bruno Motors in New Brunswick for 18 years. He started Puleio's Service Center in North Brunswick in 1963. Since then Puleio's has grown to maintain one of the largest fleets of towing equipment in New Jersey.
Mr. Puleio was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in New Brunswick. He was a 4th degree knight in the Msgr. Mugnano Council #6572 of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the North Brunswick Italian American Club, the Adams Athletic Club and the North Brunswick Democratic Club. He holds a lifetime membership in the North Brunswick First Aid and Rescue Squad and is an Honorary Chief of North Brunswick Volunteer Fire Company #3. He was awarded a Silver Badge from the North Brunswick Police Department, the highest civilian honor to be bestowed by the department. In 1984, he was awarded by the New Jersey State Police the highest civilian honor by Colonel Clinton Pagano for his life saving efforts of a motorist on the New Jersey Turnpike. Mr. Puleio was a longtime supporter and friend of the New Jersey State Police.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Samuel M. Puleio. Surviving are his wife Joan (Fate) Puleio; three daughters – Frances Cipot and her husband Jack, Ann Marie Puleio and JoAnn Kocis and her husband Jeff, all of North Brunswick; his son Nicholas J. Puleio, Jr. of North Brunswick; three brothers – Vito F. Puleio, Frank Puleio, Jr. and his wife Elsie and Anthony A. Puleio, all of North Brunswick; seven grandchildren – Linda, John, Jr., Michael and Nicholas Cipot, Nicholas and Gabriella Puleio and Troy Kocis; and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 9:45 AM Tuesday from Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick followed by a 10:30 AM Mass at St. Mary of Mt. Virgin Church in New Brunswick. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Monday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
