Visitation will be at the Selover Funeral Home, 555 George's Road, North Brunswick on Wednesday, January 3rd from 5:00PM to 9:00PM. Cremation will be private. Born in Jersey City to the late Mary (Zyk) and Daniel Krushinski, Dan lived in North Arlington, North Brunswick and was currently a Rossmoor resident in Monroe. He was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University. He worked in sales for Permacel, a Johnson & Johnson company, where he met his wife, the former Patricia Kent. He then made the fire service his career. He was a Life Member of North Brunswick Engine Company #1 where he joined the ranks in 1969 as a volunteer fireman where he also served as the President and Trustee. He was instrumental in relocating the fire company to its present location. Dan served as Chief of North Brunswick Volunteer Fire Department Bureau of Fire Prevention. He was also a Life Member of the New Jersey State Exempt Firemen's Association. Dan was a Fire Inspector for the Township of North Brunswick, retiring in 1995. Additionally, he served as the Fire Coordinator for the Middlesex County Emergency Management. One of his biggest achievements was becoming the NJ Mutual Aid Fire Coordinator working with the NJ State Police and Emergency Management. His many battles with various fire companies to accept the written Mutual Aid Plan were a big challenge back then. Dan played various sports in high school and college where being 6'6" was an asset. He also coached in North Brunswick Little League, North Brunswick Pop Warner where they named a special play after him called the "Special K". He also coached Buddy Basketball, where his nickname, "Mr. K" came into use. Dan was a member of the VFW Post 9111 Auxiliary in South Brunswick. He loved the NY Giants, NY Mets, NY Rangers and horse racing, but most of all his wonderful family. A big person in stature, he was a teddy bear and helpful to all who asked. His personality made him comfortable with everyone. He had a love for his family's Polish background and was one of a kind Dan leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Pat, his adoring children Katharine and husband, Jeff Moore Sr, sons Daniel (Chief of East Franklin Fire Dept.) and wife Lisa, and Douglas and his wife, Wendy. He was affectionately known as the dear "BUMPY" to his adoring grandchildren, Jeffrey and wife, Taryn Moore, Kyle Moore and fiancée, Jaclyn Dancsecs, Kelli Moore, Heather Krushinski and longtime boyfriend, Andrew Netta, Mary and her husband, Ray Quabeck, and Ashley and Ryan Krushinski. He had two very special great-grandchildren, Mason Daniel Scott and Riley Sue Quabeck. He is also survived by in-laws Karen and Bill Woodward and their daughter Jane, as well as several cousins and many close friends. He will be sadly missed by all. Dan's wish was that in lieu of flowers, you donate to the NJ State Firemen's Home at 565 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005.
