Obituary of Rita M. Schmon

Rita M. (Clemente) Schmon died Friday, May 25, 2018, at her home in North Brunswick. She was 95. Born in northern New Jersey to the late Pasquale and Theresa (Pizzuto) Clemente she lived in Metuchen before moving to North Brunswick in 1964. She worked in the libraries of Rutgers University in New Brunswick for 25 years before retiring in 1988. Mrs. Schmon was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in North Brunswick and would volunteer her time with the church's bingo and fish fries. She was a member of the North Brunswick Senior Citizens, the North Brunswick Pioneers Club and the North Brunswick Italian American Club. She bowled in the Early Bird Smartie League in North Brunswick up until a year ago. Her husband Paul G. Schmon died in 1997. Surviving are two daughters – Barbara A. Schmon of Monmouth Junction and Rita M. Schmon-Stasik and her husband Robert Stasik of North Brunswick; her sister Pearl Clemente of North Brunswick; and three grandchildren- Katie Ianni and her husband Louis, Matthew Stasik and his fiancée Erin, and Michael Stasik. Funeral services will be 8:45 AM Thursday from Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church in North Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick. Visitation will be at Selover Funeral Home Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
