Obituary of Stilianos Gerondelis

Stilianos Gerondelis passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. He was 81 years old. Mr. Gerondelis was born in Mytilini, Lesvos, Greece. He had lived in Greece and Brazil before moving to the United States in 1961. He also served in the Greek Air Force. He has lived in Middlesex for 48 years. He was a self employed tailor at Gerondelis Brothers Dry Cleaning and Tailoring in Springfield. He served the community for 35 years in which he was awarded a lifetime PBA membership. He was a member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, Piscataway for 54 years. He offered his time and his talents for many years and in many capacities including a member of the Board of Trustees for 15 years and volunteering at the festival. A life member of the Order of AHEPA, Monroe Chapter #75, since 1964 where he served as Chapter President for many years and District Governor 2014-2015. He was a Mason for over 30 years at Union Lodge #19, F&AM, North Brunswick and he served as Worshipful Master for 2 terms and the Grand Chaplain for one term. Stilianos traveled the world with his wife and visited many beautiful places. He had a love of playing the bouzouki and wine making and always had a story or a joke to tell. Mr. Gerondelis is predeceased by his parents Efstathios and Athanasia (Meligonitis) Gerondelis, two sisters – Effie Calantjis, Mary Bernard and a brother Nicholas Gerondelis. Surviving are his wife Nikolitsa (Alexopoulos) Gerondelis of Middlesex; his three daughters – Sia DelGuercio (Larry) of Hillsborough; Eleni Jennings (Jerry) of Middlesex; Maria Kostelni (Charles) of Lexington, VA.; brothers Socrates Gerondelis of Durham, NC; Peter Gerondelis of South Plainfield. Six Grandchildren – Niki, Anthony, Amelia, Alexandra, James and Thomas. Funeral service on Saturday June 2, 2018 at 9:00AM at the Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick, N.J. Services will be offered at 10:00AM at St George Greek Orthodox Church, Piscataway, N.J. Interment will be in Bound Brook Cemetery, Bound Brook. Friends may visit on Friday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM.
