Obituary of Ruth M. Jeffries

Ruth M. (Lawson) Jeffries died Sunday, June 24, 2018, at her home in Milltown. She was 92. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late George and Ella (Miles) Lawson, she lived in New Brunswick before moving to Milltown in 1981. She was a department manager at Sears Roebuck and Company in New Brunswick for over 30 years before her retirement. Mrs. Jeffries was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in Milltown and Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in North Brunswick. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader in New Brunswick. Her husband Thomas H. Jeffries died in 2011. She was also predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Kolen and five brothers – George, Thomas, William, John and Harry Lawson. Surviving are four daughters – Maureen Miccoli and her husband Mauro of North Brunswick, Joan Martin of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Gail Koch of St. Petersburg, Florida and Elizabeth Russo and her husband Joseph of Milltown; her sister Ella Finegan of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren – Joseph Fischer and his wife Alisa of Lake Worth, Florida, Brian Fischer of North Brunswick, Carrie Gerlando and her husband Christopher of Myrtle Beach, SC and Ryan Chapin of St. Petersburg, FL; three great grandchildren – Cross and Edan Fischer and Anthony Gerlando; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:45 AM Friday from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 AM Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church in North Brunswick. Burial will follow in Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
