Obituary of Sally Zerby

Please share a memory of Sally to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sara L. "Sally" Zerby died peacefully at home on Monday, June 25, 2018, surrounded by her loving family who adored her. She was 92. Sally was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to the late Leroy and Lillian (McCollum) Neidig. She graduated from Shamokin High School in 1943 and was an active alumnae who attended 72 consecutive reunions, always looking forward to each and every one. It was in Shamokin where she met her husband and they began their lives together. They moved to New Jersey and lived in New Brunswick before moving to North Brunswick in 1978. She worked as a dental assistant and then for over 20 years as a secretary at Livingston School in New Brunswick, retiring in 1996. In retirement, although far from relaxing, she devoted her life to her grandchildren. As the years went on Sally would always be seen in the bleachers cheering on her grandchildren, and never quietly. She found paradise at the beach in New Smyrna Beach, Florida where she loved sitting in the sand with her feet in the water. There were not many sunsets she missed at the beach. She was predeceased by her son Christopher A, Zerby in 2008. Surviving are her husband of 57 years Donald G. Zerby; her daughter Kathy Horvath and her husband Ernest of Griggstown; her daughter-in-law Christine Zerby of Robbinsville; and five grandchildren – Steven, Michael and Hayley Horvath and Tyler and Trevor Zerby. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday at Selover Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the North Brunswick Baseball and Softball Association, P.O. Box 7805, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
