Obituary of Walter L Holz

Walter L. Holz passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018. He was 81 years old.

Walt was a self employed milk distributor for 62 years. He retired from his business, Holz Dairy, in 1999.

Walt was a member of the Second Reformed Church in New Brunswick. He was also a member of the Rutgers Court Club and he enjoyed traveling and attending auctions as a member of the International Association of R.S. Prussia Collectors, Inc.

Walt raised fantail pigeons and he took pride in operating Fama's Nursery Christmas tree lot at the North Brunswick Shopping Center for 29 years. He was a huge sports enthusiast. He enjoyed Rutgers Athletics, the NY Yankees and thoroughbred horseracing. An amazing athlete, Walt played basketball for the NB Republican Club and he also played for and sponsored the Holz Dairy North Brunswick softball team.

Walt cherished spending time with his family, especially at the annual Kentucky Derby parties, Easter egg hunts and at the casino.

He was predeceased by his parents, August and Alice (Metz) Holz and his brother, Kenneth. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Eleanor M. (Denarski) Holz; his two children – son Randy Holz and his wife Cindy and daughter Katherine Fisher and her husband Roger; five grandchildren – Samantha McCann, Stacy Shiffner, Sara Faleski and Rachel and Michael Fisher and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother August Holz and his wife Thelma, his sister Margaret Potts and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 15, 2018  at the Second Reformed Church, 100 College Ave., New Brunswick. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery, North Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call at the Selover Funeral Home, 555 George's Road, North Brunswick on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
