Obituary of Carol Lou Selover

Carol Lou (Pohle) Selover died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 79 years old. Born in Newark to the late George A. and Mae E. (Trautwein) Pohle, Carol Lou was raised in Maplewood and resided in Milltown prior to settling in North Brunswick in1964. She and her husband Richard founded and operated Selover Funeral Home for the past 53 years. Carol Lou was an active member of Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Brunswick for 60 years. She enjoyed playing bridge with several bridge clubs and in earlier years enjoyed tennis, and bowling. Above all else she treasured time with her family, especially at the Jersey Shore. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Richard H. Selover; her three daughters; Rev. Dale C. Selover Froehlke and her husband Rev. Peter Froehlke of West Windsor, Karen S. Gorzynski and her husband Gary of Kendall Park and Dawn A. Selover of Hamilton Square; her son Richard H. Selover, Jr. and his wife Michelle of North Brunswick; her nine grandchildren, Sara and Hannah Froehlke, Amanda, Daniel and Matthew Gorzynski, Pamela and Valerie Romito, and Adriane and Andrew Selover; her brother, George W. Pohle and his wife Corinne of Flemington and Lavallette; her sister-in-law Gail Dunn of Toms River; and several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, corner of Kirkpatrick and New Streets, New Brunswick. Burial will follow in Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call Monday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Carol Lou's memory to Emanuel Lutheran Church or the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer by visiting In Memory Of at www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
