Obituary of Hazel E. White

Hazel E. (Voorhees) White departed this earth Friday, November 2, 2018 at Sunrise Nursing Home in East Brunswick. She was 86. She joins her son, James H. White, II, who died August 31, 2018 in Heaven. Hazel was born and raised in the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick and later moved to Franklin Park where she raised her family. She was a data processor of vital statistics for the State of New Jersey for over 20 years before her retirement in 1993. After retiring she spent her days looking after her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all the while with her faithful dog Sam at her side. She was an accomplished seamstress making dresses for her daughters and clothes for their dolls. She had a knack for making everyone who came to her home feel welcome. Neighborhood children were always stopping by and once, when one of them needed a place to stay for a while, she did not hesitate to help. She was predeceased by her parents John M. and Lillian E. (Young) Voorhees; her brother John J. Voorhees; and her son James H. White, II. She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters – Kathleen White of Whiting and Cheryl Youngman and her husband Gregg of North Brunswick; four grandchildren – Eric and Julie Youngman and James and Adam White; and her great grandchildren Adam J., Aiden and Kylee. She will also be greatly missed by her sister-in-law Joan Voorhees; her nephews Wayne and Garry; and her niece Joann. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM Friday at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road North Brunswick. Graveside services will take place at 11:15 AM Saturday at Dayton Cemetery, Georges Road, Dayton.
