Obituary of Angelica G Garlatti

Please share a memory of Angelica to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Angelica (Giorgianni) Garlatti died Thursday, March 14, 2019, at her home in Highland Park. She was 82. Born in New Brunswick to the late Giuseppe and Mary (Cuce) Giorgianni, she made Highland Park her home for the past 60 years. A deeply religious woman, Mrs. Garlatti was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Highland Park where she co-chaired several committees. She was a Lady of the Knights of Columbus and a Lady Knight of the Holy Sepulcher. For "Gege," as she was warmly referred to, there was nothing more important than family. She was a kind and caring mother who smiled broadly at the sight of her children and grandchildren. Although she never considered caring for her family as "work," this proud homemaker would argue that being a mother and grandmother was, indeed, a noble profession. Gege devoted her life to her family and their well being. This love of home and family was evident to all who knew her. The beautiful home that her husband, the late Albert S. Garlatti (2017) built in Highland Park was filled with family, friends and food on every special occasion. She would beam when visitors would come at Christmastime to toast the season. In fact, her Christmas cards would often include a handwritten note encouraging the recipient to "stop over." She doted on her family when they visited at her home in Point Pleasant, too. Whether Highland Park or Point Pleasant, it is safe to say that there was never a table without a meal when Gege was hosting her family and friends. She also was quick to travel to be near her family and friends. She would happily drive to visit them at their homes. And, she was regularly seen on the sidelines when her children and grandchildren were competing on fields, rinks and in pools. Gege would beam when speaking of her family but she would never leave a conversation without asking about another's. She listened when others talked; she would share in others' happiness and grief. Those who knew her will remember her warmly. Surviving are her daughter, Maria Harrison and her husband, Robert; three sons, Albert S. Garlatti Jr., Joseph Garlatti and Michael Garlatti and his wife, Trisha; her sister, Marianna Asin; two brothers, Anthony A. "Rocky" Giorgianni and Placido F. "Pro" Giorgianni; and six grandchildren, Albert, Steven, Michael and Thomas Garlatti and Lea and Robert Harrison. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Highland Park. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Teamwork Unlimited Foundation at www.teamworkunlimitedfoundation.com.
