Obituary of Mildred R. Humes

Mildred R. (Sabatino) Humes died Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Capital Health System at Fuld in Trenton. She was 102. Born in Corona, New York to the late Robert and Camille (Kris) Sabatino, she grew up in New York City and lived in Jackson Heights, New York. She worked at Sunshine Biscuits in Long Island City, NY and, when the company relocated to Sayreville, New Jersey, Mildred moved to the Parlin section of Sayreville. She retired from Sunshine Biscuits in 1982 after working for the company for over 35 years. She moved to North Brunswick in 2003 and in March, 2019 to the St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Center at Morris Hall in Lawrenceville. The Humes family is grateful beyond words to the staff at St. Joe's for their compassionate and professional care – and their friendship. Mildred was predeceased by her grandson Robert E. Humes, Jr., her brother Robert Sabatino and his wife, Mary, and their daughter, Susan. Surviving are her son Robert E. Humes and his wife Nancy of Skillman; two granddaughters – Christine M. Kiely and her husband Brian of Kendall Park and Amanda Yuhasz and her husband Dennis of Cranbury; six great grandchildren – Matthew, John and Jenna Kiely, Paige and Payton Yuhasz and Alyssa Humes; her nephew Ken Sabatino and his wife Kim of Brookfield, Connecticut; her former daughter-in-law Joann Barry of Lawrenceville; and her good friends Dorothy Koval of Sayreville and Ellie Pacia of North Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mildred's memory to St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Center at Morris Hall, One Bishops' Drive, Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Private funeral services with entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park in South Brunswick were under the direction of Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. A Memorial Mass will be held at a future date to be announced.
