Obituary of Jean Randolph Drella

Jean Randolph Drella, of Somerset, NJ, passed away on Saturday October 10,2020. She was predeceased by her parents, A. Randolph Higgins and Aline Van Doren Higgins, her husband, Charles L Drella Jr., her daughter, Joan Marie, her brothers, George N Higgins and Vernon VD Higgins, sister-in-law, Beatrice M Higgins, and her two nieces, Barbara J Bartunek and Diane J Rademacher. Jean was born in New Brunswick, NJ on November 8, 1922. She moved to her current home at age 10 in 1932 where she resided most of her adult life. Jean graduated New Brunswick High School in 1941 and started working at Mack Truck in New Brunswick as a payroll clerk. It was there she met the love of her life, Charlie. They were married in 1944 and briefly lived in Littleton, Colorado until his sudden passing in 1977. She then moved back to her childhood home, where she cared for her father until his passing. Jean had a great love of dogs and played a key role in the family business, Geelong Kennels. She was a strong, independent woman who had a cheerful and happy nature. Her favorite saying was "Always do what makes you happy". Jean is survived by her niece, Gail H Krzaczkowski and husband Joseph of Milltown, her great nephew, Christian H Orban and his wife Beth of Old Bridge, her great niece, Jenny L Orban of Milltown, her great great nephew, the newest member of the family who she was so blessed to meet, Oliver M Orban, and many other great nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be made by Selover Funeral home of North Brunswick. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
