Obituary of Mary Ann C. McKenna

Mary Ann (O'Farrell) McKenna passed away peacefully Friday, December 25, 2020, at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 79. Born in Jersey City to the late James and Teresa (Elwood) O'Farrell she lived in Rahway before moving to North Brunswick 20 years ago. She was a manager for GE Plastics and McCormick and Company for over 20 years before her retirement. Ms. McKenna was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in North Brunswick. She was a member of the church's Social Ministry Committee, helping with the Ozanam Shelter and as coordinator of the Soup Kitchen. Surviving are two sons – Jay McKenna of Somerville and Michael McKenna and his wife Sondra of Newark, Delaware; two daughters - Karen Karlis and her husband George of North Branch and Mary Beth McKenna of New York City; two sisters – Sr. Rita O'Farrell of Newark, NJ and Kathleen DeMonte and her husband Ronald of Colonia; her brother James O'Farrell of Bowie, Maryland; and eight grandchildren – Anthony Karlis, Alexander Karlis, Gabrielle Karlis, Isabella McKenna, Andrew Karlis, Colette Karlis, Tanner McKenna and Valerie Karlis. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will 9:45 AM Wednesday from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 AM Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church. Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City. In lieu of flowers please consider sending a donation to Our Lady of Peace Church Social Ministry, 1730 US Highway 130, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 with a note that a portion can be assigned to Ozanam Shelter in memory of Mary Ann McKenna.
