Obituary of Thomas A Parlapanides

Thomas A. Parlapanides passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2021, at the age of 83. Born in New Brunswick to the late Trianafillos and Antonia (Paparoussi) Parlapanides, he was predeceased by his sister Santa Zervoudakis, his brother Wally Parlapanides and his sister Anna Stevens. Tom graduated from New Brunswick High School where he excelled in sports, drama and band. He attended Moravian College and Rutgers University. He and his brother Wally started Athenian Real Estate Agency and later worked with their family at the Spinning Wheel Diner in New Brunswick and the Carousel Snack Bar in Seaside Park. Tom owned his own fragrance business and also worked as a delivery driver for Delaware Valley Wholesale Florist in Edison, retiring in 2012. Through his deep dedication to his faith, Tom was instrumental in the building of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway. He was a member and past president of the Monroe Chapter of the AHEPA at St. George Church. Tom is survived by his sister-in-law Angeliki Parlapanides and his nephew Dr. Trianafillos Parlapanides, with whom he resided before his illness. He is also survived by his daughter Garda Agugliaro and her husband Michael; two beautiful grandchildren Garda Autumn and Jake; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He also leaves behind the love of his life, Joan Harris, with whom he lived for over 30 years. Tom will be truly missed by all. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1101 River Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 followed by a 12:00 Noon funeral service at the church. Burial will follow in Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick. In lieu of flowers contributions in Tom's name may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick.
