Obituary of James J. Carolan. Jr.

James J. Carolan, Jr. died Friday, October 29, 2021, at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park. He was 78. Born in Brooklyn, New York to the late James J. and Margaret (Keane) Carolan, he lived in Highland Park before moving to North Brunswick 52 years ago. He was a production supervisor at the Permacel Division of Johnson and Johnson in North Brunswick where he worked for 38 years before retiring in 2004. Mr. Carolan was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in New Brunswick. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church in Highland Park. Active in local youth sports he was a coach for the North Brunswick Little League travel team, was involved in North Brunswick High School and Rutgers University soccer and was a referee for the CYO basketball program. He was a former member of the North Brunswick Board of Health and Zoning Board and was an officer of the North Brunswick Italian American Club. Mr. Carolan served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He was most proud of serving as a representative on the Resident Council of the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park. Surviving are his wife Donna (Parillo) Carolan; his daughter Kristen Olcsvay and her husband Ronald of Griggstown; his son Brian V. Carolan and his wife Shannon of Park Ridge; and two grandchildren – Harrison and Aurelia Carolan. The family would especially like to thank the employees at the Menlo Park Veterans Memorial Home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:15 AM Wednesday from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church in New Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park, Attn.
