Obituary of Alice Kartikis

Alice (Plaganis) Kartikis died Saturday, November 20, 2021, at her home in North Brunswick. She was 94. Born in New Brunswick to the late Aristides G. "Harry" and Maria (Kamekis) Plaganis, she was raised in New Brunswick and came to North Brunswick after her marriage in 1947 to her late husband, George Kartikis, She worked for the Middlesex County Clerk's Office for 10 years before her retirement in 1995. Mrs. Kartikis was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway wher she was very active in the church's organizations including the Daughters of Penelope, the Church Choir and the Philoptochos Society. She was a member of the North Brunswick Senior Citizens and was an avid bridge player. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, George Kartikis, in 1997; her daughter Marianne Andrews in 2020; her son Peter Kartikis in 2021; three sisters – Sophie Mavromatis, Pauline Marikakis and Ann Lambides; and her brother Peter Plaganis. Surviving are her daughter Marisa Dervech and her husband Stanley of Cranbury; her son-in-law Thomas Andrews of Wall; her daughter-in-law Sharon Kartikis of Pompano Beach, Florida; five grandchildren – Nicholas Andrews and his wife Teresa, Stefan Andrews, Lee Dervech, Alexis Puleio and her husband Christopher and Nicole Davis and her husband Griffin; and three great grandchildren – Jaxon Davis, Christopher George Puleio and Sophia Jean Puleio. Visitation will be Friday, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1101 River Road, Piscataway followed by a 12:00 Noon funeral service at the church. Burial will follow in Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick.
