Obituary of Patricia G Carter

Patricia (Grote) Carter passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, Pennsylvania. She was 91. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Elmer F. and Alida Benning Grote. Pat grew up in New Brunswick and East Brunswick, NJ. She attended New Brunswick High School, graduating in the class of 1948. After raising her family she continued her education, attending Douglass College (Rutgers University) and earning a Master's of Science degree in 1974. She taught nutrition at St. Peter's School of Nursing and later was employed by the State of New Jersey as a registered dietician until retiring in 2000. Pat was a former member of First Reformed Church in New Brunswick. She was also a member of The Red Hat Society, Langhorne Wild Violets Chapter. In her retirement years she enjoyed reading novels, solving word puzzles, watching Jeopardy, and spending time with her family. Patricia is survived by her son Robert F. Carter and his wife Grace of Auburn, Washington; her son Roy B. Carter and his wife Susan of Anamosa, Iowa; and her daughter Cynthia R. Carter-Betancourt and her husband Claude of Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She leaves six beloved grandchildren and three adored great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers - Richard E. Grote, Walter P. Grote, and Robert Benning; her first husband Roy Carter Jr.; and her husband of 27 years, Leon J. Traney. A gathering of family and friends will be held 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, January 7, 2021, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick, New Jersey with a memorial service to be held at 12:30 PM. Burial of her cremated remains will follow in Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick.
