Obituary of Joseph J. Kinsey

Joseph J. Kinsey passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, He was 89. Born in New Brunswick to the late Joseph T. Kinsey and Jean (Molnar) Duris, He lived in New Brunswick before moving to Milltown in 1977. He graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1951 where he excelled in baseball, football and basketball. After completing high school he signed a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He was inducted into the St. Peter's Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. He had worked for Swift and Company and Harry Strauss and Sons, both in New Brunswick before becoming shipping manager for Raritan Valley Office Supply in Highland Park. After retirement he was a courtesy driver for Acme Nissan in South Brunswick for 15 years retiring from that in 2012. Mr. Kinsey was a communicant of St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church in New Brunswick. He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks #324 in New Brunswick. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Korean War. Joe always loved being with his family and friends. He enjoyed laughing, telling jokes and stories. He touched people effortlessly with his charm, wit, honesty and integrity. He enjoyed vacationing in Midway Beach, Vermont and Lake George. He consistently made times with him lively and memorable. He was predeceased by his daughter Patricia Kinsey in 1984; and by a son Robert Kinsey in 2018. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth A. (Beck) Kinsey; his son Joseph Kinsey and his wife Karen of the Dayton section of South Brunswick; his daughter-in-law Paula Kinsey of Millstone; two brothers – John Duris and his wife Angela and Albert Duris, all of North Brunswick; sister Helen Viscel of Long Branch; granddaughters Julianne Bavaro and her husband Dominic, Jennifer Kinsey, Taylor Toms and her husband Trevor, Kristina Kinsey and Alexandra Kinsey; great granddaughters Elizabeth and Annabelle Bavaro; and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:00 AM Tuesday from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Peter the Apostle Church in New Brunswick. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
