George was born on January 22, 1932, in Kherbet Kanafar, Lebanon, to his parents, Rev. Youssef Chedid and Marie Chedid. He spent his early life contributing to the community as a cantor alongside his father, a priest, at the local church. George later served as a police officer for 18 years before making the brave decision to immigrate to the United States with his family in 1976. He lived in New Brunswick before moving to North Brunswick 30 years ago. He established his own small business in New Brunswick and worked tirelessly as an entrepreneur to provide the best possible life for his family. He dedicated his life to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was his happiest when surrounded by them.
George was an actively involved parishioner of St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church and was one of its first council members. He attended Sunday mass religiously and was well-loved and respected by everyone who knew him. His unwavering and steadfast faith in God guided every decision in his life, and he epitomized what it means to be a peaceful, pure, and loving person.
He was predeceased by his brother John Chedid.
