I had the fortune of meeting Tommy in January 2007. I was in the Marine Corps, and was stationed out in Okinawa, Japan. I went out to Yuma, AZ to participate in some aviation training for a couple of weeks, and I was there with Tommy's Brother-in-Law, Jason Guttenberg. So Tommy & Jess came out to Yuma to hang out with Jason. Jason & I were such good friends, that he invited me to hang out as well, and introduced me to Tommy & Jess. Tommy & I got along immediately, and I felt like we were long-lost friends. We played several rounds of golf during those two weeks (along with a couple more throughout the years), and I've never laughed so much out on a golf course. One of my favorite Tommy stories - I wasn't flying one day, so Tommy & I went to a local Yuma golf course. We had a 7:30am tee time, so we get there about 7:00am. Tommy walks up to the concession stand, and says, "Give me two breakfast burritos, and two double Jack & Cokes." I'm standing behind Tommy, and I'm thinking, "Great, Tommy just ordered me a drink." Then Tommy turns around and says, "Hey Starski, you want anything?" It was never a dull moment when Tommy was around, and my face usually hurt from laughing so much.
You will be missed, Tommy!! I'll see you on the 1st Tee Box, my friend.

Deepest sympathy to the Zink family. Got to know Tommy thru the Unilever/Alliance partnership. I am going to miss all the business sessions, outings, and traffic club dinners. Tom taught me so much about Intermodal and Transportation. Tom truly was so kind and full of energy. He made me feel like family. Tom's family even took care of Sophie for me. I will miss you so much brother.

My deepest sympathies are with The Zink family at this time. I am extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to know and work with Tom over the past many years with Alliance and glad to call him a friend. He was one of a kind - he would have you laughing so hard or seeing red at times but I would not have had it any other way. I will miss many things about him but what sticks out to me the most is the way he told a story or the way his face lit up when he spoke about his daughters. He was a lot of fun to be around and always went the extra mile to make you feel part of his team. Until we meet again - may you rest in peace.

“Tom Zink speaking” I will miss you dearly brotherMan. We were the Alliance/Unilever dream team. The Dynamic duo. You were a thrill seeker. Definitely the life of the party. Tom made people feel comfortable in a world of uncomfortable. He had a big heart and always gave people a chance. Gone but never forgotten. I’ll see you on the other side big bro ❤️

I am thankful to have known Tom, Tommy Zink as my kids call him. Tom was simply an awesome person that everyone wanted to be around. They guy full of energy and willing to help out. He spoke from the heart. Could never out drive him on the course even when he was not on his game. The guy was just a great player. Many good times on the golf course. When it came to work, loved his tenacity to get things done. Knew so many contacts and always introduced me to them. Going to miss Tom. so many well. He is one of those people that touch the lives of many and leave a last impression. I will cherish the laughter he brought along with him teaching me about intermodal and the dynamics of the players within the industry. Love ya Tom.

Tommy, Zink, Zinker, Tommy Boy left us way too soon.
Tommy was part of the racing crew on the sailboat "Feng Shui" for over a decade. Tommy being athletic quickly picked up the sport and became a major contributor to the crew. Tommy (Zink) would handle any assignment given. But more than his sailing was his larger than life personality. He was always quick with a joke or one liner whether to fellow crew or to other boats. Not a week went by without some laughs. He will also be remembered for competing in Block Island race week on "Spry" and his antics rolling up hill and other sentinel moments. Some days we laughed so hard we had tears in our eyes. For those who knew him well he was "Tommy Boy" from the movie.
His 4th of July parties will always be remembered for his ribs and late night grilled pizza.
Tommy was one of a kind and will be missed.
To his family and friends we send our condolences on the event of his tragic untimely passing. His passing is still hard to come to grips with and we hope that his wonderful family can find some solice in his memory.
Zink may you rest in peace
