Obituary of Carmela J. Casazza

Carmela J. (Merezio) Casazza died Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Preferred Care of Old Bridge. She was 96 years old. Born in Jersey City to the late Martin and Julia (Manzella) Merezio, she lived in Jersey City and Kendall Park before moving to her daughter's home in North Brunswick in 2006. She worked at Waldorf Gold Stamping in Jersey City for 30 years before retiring in 1997. During World War II she was a crane operator at a defense plant. Mrs. Casazza was a member of the South Brunswick Senior Citizens. Her husband Anthony S. Casazza died in 2005. Surviving are her daughter Adele Benhardt of North Brunswick; and two grandsons – Donald E. Benhardt, Jr. of North Brunswick and Jason Benhardt and his wife Kelly of Old Bridge; and three great grandchildren – Leah, Gavin and Piper. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:15 AM Friday from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in North Brunswick. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick.
