Obituary of George Robert Hermes

George Robert "Bob" Hermes died Monday, August 8, 2022, at Community Medical Center in Toms River. He was 73.

Born in New Brunswick to the late George B. and Edythe M. (Zogg) Hermes, he lived in North Brunswick before moving to Toms River 10 years ago. He worked for the Parks and Recreation Department of North Brunswick Township and was transportation coordinator for the North Brunswick Senior Center before retiring in 2008.

Bob was a member of Georges Road Baptist Church in North Brunswick. He was a member of the Brunswick Surf Club and the Lenape Rod and Gun Club. An avid fisherman, he created the North Brunswick Father's Day Fishing Derby, an event he participated in annually.

Surviving are his wife Catherine C. (Dudas) Hermes; two sons – Robert Hermes and Darren Hermes, both of Toms River; his sister-in-law Eileen Kozup and her husband Michael of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania; and two nephews and their families – Kevin Kozup and his wife Danielle of Denville and MichaelJohn Kozup and his wife Natasha of Boiling Springs, PA.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick with a funeral service to be held at 6:30 PM. Private cremation will follow.
