Obituary of Mary Ann Minchilli

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Ann Minchilli (née Soyka), 72, of North Brunswick, NJ sadly passed away on September 7th surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Elizabeth, NJ to Andrew and Mary, but called North Brunswick home for nearly 50 years. She is predeceased by her husband Joe, her parents Andrew and Mary, sister, Janet Varsalona (née Soyka). Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Liz Gabriele (née Minchilli), sister, Andrea (Cookie) Tusin (née Soyka) and her brother, Raymond Soyka. With an extended family including more than 50 in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, Mary Ann leaves behind a group of close knit family members who are truly devastated by the loss. She was a second mom to so many, including her son-in-law Anthony and a beloved Grammy to her grandpup Logan. Nicknamed "Smiling Mary Ann", she was a star employee at Johnson & Johnson in the 80's and early 90's as an Administrative Assistant to many in Sales and Marketing. Once her division branched off, she moved on to the newly formed Arquest Inc., with familiar faces. Most recently she worked for Crate and Barrel prior to her retirement in 2019. She created lifelong friendships in the community as she was a true bookworm and active member of her local book club. Mary Ann was an avid yogi and gardener as well. Unafraid to speak up, she was a community activist who fought to keep North Brunswick a great place to live. Going to Manasquan beach with her sidekick Joanne Kokkinakis was one of her favorite things to do. Music was a staple in her life, particularly listening to her favorite band, The Rolling Stones and she loved talking about concerts she had attended starting in the 70's. To know Mary Ann was to love her. She will be sorely missed by so many of the people whose lives she touched. Visitation will be Monday, September 12th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:15 AM Tuesday from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:00AM Mass at St. Mary of Mt. Virgin Church, 198 Sandford St, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
