Obituary of Sarafina Premro

Please share a memory of Sarafina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sarafina (Sciarratta) Premro passed away peacefully Thursday, September 29, 2022, at her apartment in Jamesburg, her home for 40 years. She was 98 (going on Sweet 16). Born and raised in New Brunswick, NJ in the 1920s to the late Anthony and Della (Nucaso) Sciarratta, immigrants from Sicily, Italy, Sarafina, as well as her brothers and sisters, were taken out of school at an early age to help the family survive the Great Depression. Sarafina and her sister Lucy helped their mom in the garden and then jarred and canned that food for their family. She also helped her family by picking fruit that the neighboring farmer generously shared. She loved spending time with her father, helping him cut wood with a double-handled saw for their wood-fired brick oven. She then enjoyed eating the bread and Sicilian pizza her mom made in that very oven. In her young adult years, she worked at a pocketbook factory in New Brunswick and enjoyed sewing. Sarafina also worked for Johnson & Johnson in the production of J&J dental floss. After marrying in 1948, Sarafina became a stay-at-home wife and devoted mother and worked hard at keeping a warm and loving home. She was a meticulous housekeeper and amazing cook, famous for her mouth-watering Yankee Pot Roast and delicious homemade lasagna. Sarafina was very creative, cooking delicious meals, enjoying decorating and drawing, and making clothes for her daughters and their baby dolls. She also loved planting her marigolds and begonias and decorating with mums in the fall. Even in her eighties, she still helped her family, cared for her own place, and cooked for others and herself. Near the end of her life, she still called everyone to talk to them and tell them she loved them. She lived a full, simple, and genuine life. She passionately loved babies and children. Her ultimate joy was taking care of her family and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Nancy and son-in-law John Tancredi; four sisters – Lucy Duino, Millie Cristello, Jeanette DiGloria, and Angelina Maggio; and two brothers – Anthony and Salvatore Sciarratta. Surviving are her daughter Susan Guglielmon and her husband Robert of Bridgewater; and five grandchildren – Sabrina Kramnich and her husband Jacob Snodgrass, Nicholas Tancredi, Cara Guglielmon, Jonathan Guglielmon, and Christina Guglielmon. Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick with a funeral service to be held at 4:30 PM. Private cremation will follow.
