Obituary of Marion R. Grote

Marion R. (Witte) Grote died Monday, November 28, 2022, at her home in Monroe Township. She was 91.

Born in New Brunswick to the late William J. and Rose Marie (Doeffinger) Witte, she lived in East Brunswick and Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania before moving to Monroe Township over three years ago. She was an executive secretary at Carter Wallace in Monroe Township for 16 years before retiring in 1991.

Mrs. Grote was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tunkhannock. She was a 50 year member of Al-Anon and served as an advocate and New Jersey Delegate. She helped many families in crisis over the years.

Her husband Richard E. Grote died in 2017. Surviving are her son Richard W. Grote and his wife Frances of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; two daughters – Carol G. Carpenter of Tarpon Springs, Florida and Kathleen J. Hall and her fiancé Jeffrey Rauch of Monroe Township; her sister Jane Alcorn of Monroe Township; seven grandchildren – Jason Grote and his wife Lorraine, Danielle Erbele and her husband Isaac, Richard Grote and his wife Kristina, Matthew Grote, Brian Hall and his wife Katy, Kevin Hall and Michelle Hall; and four great grandchildren – Ruthie and Ellie Erbele and Reid and Theo Grote.

Cremation was private. A gathering of friends and family will be held 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick with a memorial service to be held at 2:30 PM.
