Obituary of Vittoria Popolo

Vittoria (Bottaro) Popolo died peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 83. Born in San Pier Niceto, Messina, Sicily, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Francesca (Africo) Bottaro, she immigrated to the United States and lived in New Brunswick before moving to North Brunswick in 1961. Mrs. Popolo was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her husband Pasquale S. Popolo in 2015; and by her sister Grazia Sciotto. Surviving are her daughter Maria Poos and her husband Gary of Woodbridge; two sons – Peter S. Popolo of North Brunswick and Joseph Popolo and his wife Cindy of Bayville; two sisters – Isabella Abate of Australia and Francesca Bottaro of San Pier Niceto; and three grandchildren – Stephen Poos and Marianne Poos, both of Woodbridge and Nichole Popolo of Bayville. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:15 AM Thursday, January 26, 2023 from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church in New Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park in South Brunswick.
