Obituary of Frances C. Herbst

Frances C. (Lester) Herbst died Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair. She was 84. Frances was born in New Brunswick, NJ to Walter and Genevieve (Wisnefski) Lester. She graduated from St. Peter's High school and worked at the NJ Bell Telephone Company where she met her husband Joseph R. Herbst. They married in 1963 and moved to Kendall Park, NJ where they raised their children. During her life she also worked at Greenbrook School as a classroom and lunch aid and at John E. Herbst Heating and Cooling as a bookkeeper. After 52 years she moved from Kendall Park to Crane's Mill Retirement Community in West Caldwell, NJ where she enjoyed close friendships, helped lead bingo, and volunteered in the gift shop. Frances was predeceased by her parents; her husband Joseph R. Herbst; her son Joseph R. Herbst, Jr.; her grandson Alex R. Herbst and her brother Walter V. Lester. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Charles Bond of Montclair, NJ; her cherished grandchildren Allison Bond of Titusville, NJ and Matthew Herbst of North Brunswick, NJ; her sister Helen Ericksen of Natick, MA and her beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:00 AM Monday, March 6, 2023 from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, Kendall Park. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Donations in honor of Frances can be made to the Lupus Foundation of America at lupus.org
