Obituary of Joan A. McMahon

Joan A. (Miller) McMahon died Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Complete Care at Madison in Old Bridge. She was 80.

Born in Somerville to the late John E. and Anna J. (Poandl) Miller, she has resided in Highland Park since 1978. She was a teacher's aide in the Highland Park Schools for 25 years before retiring in 2006.

Mrs. McMahon was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was predeceased by her husband James E. McMahon, Sr. in 2017. Surviving are her daughter Shannon Kuismanen and her husband Kalle of Vantaa, Finland; two sons – James E. McMahon, Jr. of Vincentown and Michael McMahon and his wife Amanda of Highland Park; six grandchildren – Sonia and her wife Taylor, Alexa and her partner Tom, Katja, Michael Jr. and his fiancé Kayli, Cara and Colin; and three greatgrandchildren – Phineas, Oliver and Cyrus.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick with a funeral service at 3:00 PM at Selover Funeral Home. Private cremation will follow. We request that those attending the visitation wear Joan's favorite colors, a combination of red and black.
