Obituary of Thomas Avgerakis

Thomas Avgerakis died Sunday, April 16, 2023, at his home in Monroe Township. He was 97.

Born in South Brunswick to the late George and Meropi (Gialitakis) Avgerakis, he lived in Trenton before moving to the Rossmoor Community in Monroe Township 20 years ago. He was an automotive executive for General Motors Company in Trenton for 31 years before retiring in 1985.

Mr. Avgerakis was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Hamilton. He was also a member of AHEPA in Trenton, the Mercer Lodge #50 F. and A.M. of Trenton, and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Central Jersey.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II.

Surviving are his wife Florence (Harris) Avgerakis; two sons – George H. Avgerakis and his wife Maria of Yonkers, New York and Will Avgerakis and his wife Bethany of Metuchen; two sisters – Helen Kousoulides of Brooklyn, New York and Anna Nyktas of Lawrenceville and Florida; five grandchildren – Jasmine Avgerakis-Marks and her husband Michael Marks, Ethan Avgerakis and his wife Alison, Adrian Avgerakis and his fiancée Kimara McGee, Stephanie Avgerakis-Pfeiffer and her husband James Pfeiffer and Alexander Avgerakis; and five great grandchildren – Violet Avgerakis, Isabella Avgerakis-Pfeiffer, Connor Avgerakis-Pfeiffer, Nicholas Avgerakis-Pfeiffer and Tyler Avgerakis-Pfeiffer.

Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 24, 2023, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Road, Hamilton. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
