Obituary of Vanessa Louise Dunzik

Vanessa Louise (Atkin) Dunzik died Sunday, April 30, 2023, surrounded by her family at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 57.

Born in London, England to the late Peter H. and Beryl J. (Inch) Atkin, she came to the United States in 1988 and has lived in North Brunswick since then. She was the administrative assistant for the past 20 years at Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Brunswick where she was a member.

Vanessa was a founding member of the Feeding New Brunswick Network. Vanessa's Food Pantry at Emanuel Lutheran Church was named in honor of her dedication to her service in feeding the hungry. The Pantry recently merged and became Unity Square Community Center in New Brunswick where she became Director of the Client Choice Food Pantry. She was also a board member for the greater New Brunswick chapter of Meals on Wheels. In 2019, she received ShopRite's Hunger Hero award.

Surviving are three children – Cassandra M. Dunzik of Milltown, Beryl-Anne L. Dunzik of Sayreville and Doulas E. Dunzik, Jr. of North Brunswick; and three siblings – Christopher Atkin and his wife Suzie of Ramsey, England, Deborah McDonald of Ramsey, England and Graham Atkin and his wife Sally of Chester, England, along with many nieces and nephews.

Private cremation was under the direction of Selover Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3 Kirkpatrick Street, New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Meals on Wheels of New Brunswick in Vanessa's memory.
