Obituary of Charlotte H. Karras

Charlotte H. Karras died Friday, June 2, 2023, at her home in East Brunswick. She was 83.
Born in Moulton, Alabama to the late D.W. Hampton, Jr. and Irene (Pruitt) Hampton, she lived in Edison before moving to East Brunswick in 2005. She was a teacher at Passaic County Vocational High School in Wayne for 25 years before retiring in 2000. Mrs. Karras was also an adjunct professor at Rutgers University where she taught American Sign Language.
Mrs. Karras was a member of New Jersey Deaf Awareness Week and New Jersey Association of the Deaf and served on the boards of both organizations.
Her husband George M. Karras died in 2009. Surviving are her daughter Andrea Faust of Milltown; her son Michael Karras and his wife Rose of Stallings, North Carolina; two sisters – Phyllis Denise Hampton Stingily and Joyce Hampton Oakes, both of Huntsville, Alabama; five grandchildren – Michael, Alexis and Madison Faust and George and Maxwell Karras; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Private cremation will follow.
