Obituary of Carol J Bonura

Carol J. Bonura died Friday, August 11, 2023, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. She was 67.

Born in New Brunswick to the late Stephen C. And Helen (Varga) Bonura, she lived in Manalapan before moving to Monroe Township four years ago. She worked for the United States Postal Service in East Brunswick before becoming a park ranger for the Monmouth County Parks Department.

Carol was very active in the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #324 in New Brunswick where she was Past Exalted Ruler and Past Vice President. She was the VAVS representative for the Menlo Park Veterans Home and was designated to serve as District Deputy of Central Jersey.

She was a veteran of the United States Army. She served as the vice commander of the Veterans Alliance of Raritan Valley.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two sisters and brothers-in-law – Mary Ann Schultz and her husband William, Patricia Harry and her husband Thomas; her sister-in-law Maria (Smith) Bonura; and her beloved dog, Navy. Surviving are her sister Elizabeth J. "Betty Jean" Bonura of Monroe Township; four brothers – John Bonura and his wife Debbie of North Brunswick, Stephen Bonura and his wife Linda of Monroe Township, William Bonura and his wife Rita of North Brunswick and Brian Bonura and his wife Robin of Milltown; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Selover Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or to the American Cancer Society at www.donate.cancer.org.
