Lynn Karen Slotkin (nee Hendler), passed away in the early morning hours of Monday August 7, 2023. She was 74 years young. Lynn was the art teacher at Deerfield School in Mountainside, NJ and taught there for 25 years before retiring in 2016. She made long-lasting friends with the staff, kids and parents alike. She graduated from Douglass College and was the recipient of two Masters Degrees Lynn taught art for almost 30 years, and inspired everyone who met her with her bright light, infectious humor and ability to live a very colorful life filled with magical creativity and love. She threw herself into her job and made it her life mission to help and educate kids through art. Extremely fun and bubbly, Lynn was generous with her heart and time to her students. Art education was her biggest passion, but she was also an avid quilter, seamstress, artist of many mediums. She was a lover of all things holiday and had a keen eye for all things unique. She loved spending time with her grandsons and encouraging their imaginations. She was active in many groups and charities and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She & Gerry surrounded themselves with beautiful gardens and animals. They first met and dated when they both worked Camp Arrowhead in West Chester, PA. While both attending Penn State University, where they became life-long fans and alumni, they rekindled their romance, married and had their first daughter, Rochelle. She is survived and celebrated by her loving husband of 55 years, Gerald Slotkin, her two daughters – Rochelle Sottile and her husband Walter and Hilary Papio and her husband Matthew and two grandsons - Andrew Daley and Gabriel Papio.
