Obituary of Gary R. Alston

Gary R. Alston died Monday, September 18, 2023, at Community Medical Center in Toms River. He was 73.

Born in Newark to the late Ralph W. and Ruth (Trautwein) Alston, he was raised in Irvington. He graduated from Irvington High School and the University of Maryland. He was an engineering technician and project manager for Universal Technical Resource Service, Inc. in Lakehurst before becoming a program manager for Kidde Fire Training Systems in Allendale until his retirement.

Gary was Past Chief and Past President of Ocean Beach Fire Company #3 where he remained an active member. He was also an alumni member of the College Park Volunteer Fire Department in Maryland.

Surviving are his brother Robert W. Alston of Toms River; his niece Lindsay Radziak, her husband David and their son Bennett of Medford; his partner Eva Marie Perrotta of Stone Harbor; and many cousins.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, September 25, 2023, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Selover Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle.
