Obituary of Philip J. Calabro

Philip J. Calabro died Sunday, October 15, 2023 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 87. Born in Franklin Township to the late Nicola and Mary (Sidotti) Calabro, he lived in North Brunswick for 71 years. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Peter's High School in New Brunswick. He owned and operated Phil Calabro Plumbing and Heating in North Brunswick for 40 years before retiring in 2003. Mr. Calabro was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in New Brunswick and was a member of the church's Knights of Columbus, Monsignor Mugnano Council #6572. He was a former member and past president of the North Brunswick First Aid and Rescue Squad and a life member of the B.P.O.Elks #324 in New Brunswick. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was predeceased by his brother Russell P. Calabro in 2014. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Betty J. (Gorney) Calabro; his sister Connie Adamo of Hertford, North Carolina; and his brother Nicholas Calabro and his wife Linda of Hertford, North Carolina. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:15 AM Thursday, October 19, 2023, from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Mary of Mt. Virgin Church in New Brunswick. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
