Obituary of Bertha Ann Kovacs
Bertha Ann Kovacs, 93, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, in Somerset, NJ, surrounded by the love of her family. Mrs. Kovacs was born on June 20, 1930, in Easton, PA, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Rosella Havens.
Bertha resided in New Brunswick and South Brunswick before making her home for many years in North Brunswick. Bertha's work ethic was commendable, dedicating 30 years to Avery Label before embarking on a well-deserved retirement. Her spirit was deeply intertwined with the fabric of North Brunswick, evident through her active membership at the North Brunswick Senior Center and her devout attendance at St. Paul's Church in Milltown.
Bertha found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was shouting "Bingo!" with enthusiasm, cherishing her collection of Betty Boop memorabilia, trying her luck with scratch-off lottery tickets, enjoying the thrill of Atlantic City, indulging in pizza with her cherished ladies, or simply being surrounded by her loving family—Bertha's life was a tapestry woven with these beautiful moments.
Ms. Kovacs was predeceased by her husband, John Kovacs, her daughter, Barbara Kovacs Slovinsky, her brothers, Don Havens and Robert Havens, and her sister, Gail Flannagan.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Hart, and her husband Frank of North Brunswick; her grandson, Tommy Kovacs, and his wife Debbie of North Brunswick; her granddaughters, Nicole Hart of North Brunswick and Jennifer Kuntz and her husband Scott of Kendall Park; her great-grandchildren, Michael Kovacs, Ryan Kovacs, Sophia Kuntz, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Services are under the direction of Selover Funeral Home in North Brunswick. Due to renovations, services will be held at Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, December 21, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset.
Funeral services will commence at 10:00 A.M. on Friday at the Gleason Funeral Home, followed by burial and committal services at Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
