Obituary of Anthony C. Tirella

Anthony C. Tirella, Sr. died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 82. Born in Jersey City he had lived there before moving to Edison in 1996. Mr. Tirella worked as an affirmative action officer for Jersey City before his retirement. He was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Jersey City. His wife Dorothy Bufano Tirella died in 2005. He is also predeceased by his daughter Teresa Tirella. Surviving are his son Anthony C. Tirella, Jr. and his wife Mary Ann of Spotswood; a sister Margaret Marabondo of Fairfield; a brother Carl Tirella of Toms River; two grandchildren Marc and Elisa Tirella; and a great granddaughter, Morgan. Funeral services will be 8:45 AM Saturday from Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in North Brunswick. Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Friday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
