Obituary of Herbert Puritz

Herbert Puritz died Friday, December 9, 2011, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 82. Born in New Brunswick he was a lifelong city resident. He was a refrigeration engineer at Bristol Myers Squibb in New Brunswick for 39 years retiring in 1992. Mr. Puritz had served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post #3117 in Edison. He was an avid pilot and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He had also built his own airplane. His wife Rita Gallagher Puritz died in 1997. Surviving are two sons - Kenneth Puritz and his wife Jenn of East Brunswick and Steven Puritz and his wife Jeannine of North Brunswick; his daughter Marlene Puritz of North Brunswick; a brother - Leon Puritz and his wife Rita of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren - Jakob, Ryan, Hanna and Jason; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday evening from 7-9 PM at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery, North Brunswick.
