Obituary of Maria C Mannino

Maria Carmela Calapa Mannino died Friday, December 23, 2011, at her home in North Brunswick. She was 85. Born in Gualtieri Sicamin (Prov. Messina), Italy, she emigrated to the US in December of 1956. She had lived in Bronx, NY before moving to North Brunswick 18 years ago. Mrs. Mannino was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in North Brunswick. She had worked as a seamstress in the Bronx before retiring in 1992 and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was predeceased by her brother Giuseppe Calapa. Surviving are her husband Nicola Mannino; two daughters and their husbands - Nancy and Salvatore Liguori of North Brunswick and Rosalie and Alfred Lucia of Northport, Long Island; seven grandchildren - Richard Liguori and his wife Monique, John Liguori and his wife Catherine, Marissa Vatsky and her husband Seth, Kristin Gristina and her husband Matthew and Victoria, Alfred and Nicholas Lucia; seven great grandchildren; a brother Nunziato Calapa and his wife Anna; a sister-in-law Genevieve Calapa and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 9:45 AM Tuesday from Selover Funeral Home, 555 North Brunswick followed by a 10:30 AM Mass at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, North Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Monday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
