Martin J. Supp, Jr. of Bayville went home to the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank after battling pneumonia and congestive heart failure. He was 90. Born July 11, 1921, Marty grew up in New Brunswick before moving to South River, North Brunswick and ultimately to a retirement community in Bayville. An Army veteran of World War II, Marty fought valiantly for the country he loved at the Battle of the Bulge, amongst other campaigns during the war throughout the European Theatre. A graduate of New Brunswick High School, Martin went on to study plumbing and heating mechanics and design in New York City. After his service in the military, Martin attended college at night and decided to stay in the plumbing and heating field. He honed his craft for many years while working for Richardson Engineering in New Brunswick. He was a long time member of the North Brunswick Lions Club and was heavily involved with all of their charitable activities. Upon his retirement to Bayville he became a commissioner on the Berkley Township Housing Authority, where he remained active until his death. Marty will now be reunited with his loved ones who have passed before him. He was predeceased by his first wife Caroline Bang Supp in 1964, his second wife Ruth Waidelich Supp in 2001, his son John Supp in 1993 and daughter-in-law Barbara Supp in 1996. His memory will be carried forever forward by his brother Joseph Supp and his wife Martha of Marathon, Florida; grandson John Supp and his wife Kelly of Red Bank, grandson David Supp and his wife Carleena of Egg Harbor Township; and Ruth's children - Susan Troxel and her husband Mark of Hamilton and William Thomas and his two children - Billy and Shanna of Phoenix, Arizona. Pop the Cane, as he was most affectionately know to his great grandchildren, will be sadly missed by great grandsons - Aidan, Riley and Kieran of Red Bank and by great granddaughter - Lucia of Egg Harbor Township. Uncle Marty's memory will also be in the hearts of all his nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:15 AM Friday from Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick followed by an 11:00 AM Mass at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in North Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Thursday from 6 PM to 9 PM only.
