Obituary of Dorothy P. Alderfer

Dorothy P. Alderfer died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at home surrounded by her family. She was 96. Born in State College, Pennsylvania on March 31, 1915, she graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor of science in physical education. She moved to North Brunswick in 1954 and had taught at New Brunswick High School for 11 years before retiring in 1975. She was a lifelong fan of her alma mater, Penn State. Mrs. Alderfer was a member of the Presbyterian Church of New Brunswick. She was a member of the Rutgers Women's League and the Rutgers Golf League and bowled every Tuesday at Brunswick Zone in North Brunswick up until two weeks ago. Her husband Russell B. Alderfer died in 2000. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law - Margaret A. Moore and husband Robert of North Brunswick and Catharine A. Tokash and husband Donald of Berwyn, PA; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Cremation was private. A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Presbyterian Church of New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church of New Brunswick. 100 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
